New Video “Never Forgive, Never Forget.” (TV Edit) by The Dear Hunter Debuts on Spinner.com

Yesterday The Dear Hunter released our music video we made for them on AOL’s Spinner.com.  You can see the debut HERE.  This is an edit made for TV, so it is a little shorter than the full version that will debut in a few weeks.

Now a little from us about how we had the concept and produced the vid…

We were in the process of developing a concept for a short film about a modern day resistance fighter who stands up and strikes back at a corrupt and brutal regime using visual elements from WWII resistance groups and comic book style themes. As we were testing some scenes we happened to be playing the Dear Hunter’s Color Spectrum in the background, the Black album in particular and there was something about the track, “Never Forgive, Never Forget” that perfectly matched the tone of what we were going for. We returned to the drawing board and attempted to condense our story into an epic revenge flick set to their track. We hope you all enjoy it!

This project was filmed in various spots around California such as Terminal Island, and the Devils Gate Dam.  The project was also shot using all DSLR Camera’s, namely the 5 & 7D.

After all the production was finished, we set about adding color and effects to the shots, most of the color was done in DaVinci Resolve, with a little bit being done in the compositing program.  The look we were going for was a “Earthy” and “Surreal” look, sort of like Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “A Very Long Engagement.”  Some of the shots were difficult to color this way do to the weather and the color of the landscape.  But all in all we were happy with the resulting scheme.

In the action sequences in this piece we used a lot of REAL guns that are REALLY firing, courtesy of our friends Phillip Showalter and Tim Troell, but obviously so we don’t blow each others heads off, we had to composite a few :D .

Well all and all we were verry happy with the way things turned out on this project, we learned alot of things, had a few close calls with the police and harbor patrol, and Jimmie was able to fall on his face around 500 times without a single broken bone or complaint!

After a while we will post some before/after stuff, and maybe a few funny behind the scene vids for people to get a laugh at!

Cheers Everyone!

LET ‘EM HAVE IT!  Productions.
